Army probe not on Malaka

The army insists that the court of inquiry to be appointed to look into the assault on an Army Major is not an inquiry on Minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka Silva.Acting military spokesman Brigadier G. Ravipriya said that the inquiry is to merely see what took place as it involves a military officer. Major C. Pradeep had lodged a police complaint saying he was assaulted by Malaka Silva at a Colombo hotel last weekend and his weapon was also taken away. The army major was admitted to hospital following the incident and his weapon was later handed over to the police. The police media unit had said investigations into the incident were underway. Brigadier G. Ravipriya said that there was no set time frame when the court of inquiry will conclude its investigations.
