Spain reinforces military presence in islands claimed by Morocco

first_imgRabat- Spain had been reported to reinforce its military presence in the occupied Chafarinas Islands off the Northern coasts of Morocco, according to Akhbar Al Youm daily in its issue of Tuesday, November 12th.Construction materials and supplies had been transported to the islands few weeks ago in what believed to be an attempt by the Spanish authorities to launch a big project on the archipelago located east of the city of Nador.Reports quoted by the daily suggest that Spain is using the mentioned supplies to build control bridges and other military facilities throughout the islands claimed by Morocco. The reports said that the Spanish military forces have been using zodiac boats to transport the supplies from the occupied city of Melilla to the islands in what seems to be preparations for construction work that will take place soon.The same source went on to add that the purpose behind transporting supplies and construction materials to the islands is to build a bay area meant to facilitate the process of emptying and shipping cargos.
