They are pictured holding the Ulster Senior Ladies trophy, the U21 All-Ireland trophy and the U14 Ulster championship trophyDonegal Ladies Gaelic Football Association held a very successful Golf Classic in Ballybofey & Stranorlar Golf Club on Friday as clubs and businesses weighed in to help our county’s girls and ladies gaelic football teams.The main sponsor of the event was Daly’s Topaz Lifford.There was a large turnout with more than 50 teams taking to the Twin Towns fairways in what was perfect conditions for golf and this was shown in the tremendous scoring on the day. The winning team was Tommy Greally, David McHale, John Bowe & Joe Lamb with a fantastic score of 95pts helped in no small way by a magnificent 8 pointer at the road hole & 2 x 7 pointers at the par 3, 8th & 13th holes.2nd Place went to Lawrence Hegarty, Sean Clerkin, Michael Kearney & Micky McMahon with a tremendous 94pts their score was boosted with 8pts at the 11th & 7pts at the 5th & 9th holes.3rd Place went to Patsy Lafferty, Sean Canning, Donal Murphy & Brian O’Donnell with 93pts on a break of tie these lads produced a steady round of 5 & 6 pointers throughout.4th went to Martin Roarty, James Cullen, Paul Harkin & Eddie McHugh with 93pts 5th was Paul Henderson, Keith French, Eugene McKeever & Matt Gallagher with 91pts6th went the way of Dessie Shiels (snr), Bobby Shiels, Francis Higgins & Dessie Shiels (jnr) on a break of tie from Eamonn M Donnell, Danny Conaghan, Tommy McGinty & Seamus Clerkin in 7th both with 90pts.The Ladies team prize was won by Eileen Reilly, Anne Sweeney, Anna Dillon & Deirdre Kelly with 84pts With some very accurate shooting at the par 3s where they scored heavily.Longest DriveGents: Mark BoyleLadies: Gemma McClenaghanNearest the PinGents: Danny ConnaghanLadies: Anne Bonner“We cannot thank Ballybofey & Stranorlar Golf Club Staff & Members highly enough for the way in which they looked after us they went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed,” said Moville’s Liam Skelly who co-ordinated the event. “Thanks to the Green staff for the way they had the course looking. All the golfers where complimenting it after their rounds.”Skelly added: “Thanks to the one and only Dermott Foy who provided a superb Barbecue at the 9th Hole that included Burgers, Hot Dogs, Juice & Water for all the participants.“Thanks to all those clubs which supported the event, and in particular to the businesses people who sponsored tees and entered teams – we are very grateful for their support and it is much appreciated by all the girls who represented their county this  year.“A special word of thanks to the Donegal Senior Ladies Players – Ulster Champions 2015 – who went out looking for the sponsorship and getting people to enter teams.
