This move has sparked sharp objections from the Journalists Association of Korea (JAK), who denounced this “new type of attempt to muzzle journalism”.“It is imperative that KT&G drop this abusive suit immediately,” says Cédric Alviani, the head of RSF’s East Asia bureau, who also called for “regulatory reforms to ensure the freedom of journalists to carry out their investigations without fear of legal repercussions”.The article that led to the suit reported on a commercial dispute involving KT&G and one of its affiliates. Two days after publication, the tobacco manufacturing giant filed a claim against the newspaper and the journalist, further singling out Kang by requesting the seizure of half of his salary until a provision of 200 million won (150,000 euros) was reached, which amounts to more than three years the average reporter’s salary. South Korea is ranked 42nd out of 180 countries in RSF’s 2020 World Press Freedom Index. Players will be tested two to three days before each match and a game will be postponed as soon as four cases are found at the same club within an eight-day period. FacebookTwitterWhatsAppEmail分享 “It complicates the planning. We’ll have to put up with it and be very responsible at home.” Newly-promoted Lens are awaiting the results of further tests after defender Jonathan Clauss returned a positive sample earlier in the week. “I hope we will play. If we start by postponing the first weekend, we’ll get nowhere,” said Lens boss Franck Haise. “I think we need to play as much as we can when it’s possible otherwise we’re going to finish the season in 2023.” Meanwhile, Nimes announced a fourth coronavirus case within their squad putting Sunday’s fixture against Brest at risk. “I hope we can play it, I think we can play it,” the southern side’s coach Jerome Arpinon said. According to a club source captain Anthony Briancon and striker Nolan Roux are among those to have tested positive for the illness. Brest also recorded a case, saying the individual had been placed in isolation while the rest of the squad and the coaching staff have tested negative. Marseille have found a fifth asymptomatic case of coronavirus in their squad, a club spokesperson on Friday, on the same day the new French Ligue 1 season kicked-off under an increasingly darkening COVID-19 cloud. According to AFP report, Andre Villas Boas’ squad had been scheduled to open the French season later in the day at home to Saint-Etienne, but the game was cancelled after the four earlier positive tests. The club have not revealed the names of the players but said they are in isolation at home. The rest of the Marseille squad were given the weekend off ahead of next Sunday’s game at Brest. Hours later, Saint-Etienne said one of their players had also tested positive. Nantes’ trip to Bordeaux was moved from Saturday to replace the season-opening fixture at the Velodrome. It proved little comfort as the game, the first in the competition in 166 days following the coronavirus lockdown and played behind closed doors, ended in a tame 0-0 draw. Nantes had a one-man advantage for more than an hour after a 20th-minute red card for Mehdi Zerkane. The Bordeaux player was punished after a VAR consultation for an ugly lunge into the leg of Nicolas Pallois. Earlier on Friday, Nice coach Patrick Vieira said he was concerned about the impact two coronavirus cases could have on his club. Nice said a pair of players had been held out of training and placed in quarantine after contracting the virus. “I felt on the pitch the rest of the squad is worried. I am too, for the match against Lens on Sunday and for what happens next,” Vieira told a press conference. Rondo had an MRI over the weekend that the medical staff used to diagnose a strained right calf. The veteran point guard is considered day-to-day, but he hasn’t played in any contests since the team returned from China.Kuzma is still “ramping up” his workload from an August foot injury, but Vogel sounded optimistic Tuesday morning that the Lakers haven’t ruled out the possibility of the third-year forward returning to the lineup during the team’s upcoming three-game trip through Dallas, San Antonio and Chicago. Kuzma and Rondo are expected to travel with the team.“We don’t have a game in mind,” Vogel said of Kuzma. “As soon as possible is my take on it. He did a little bit of shootaround stuff today. He’s gonna continue to ramp up his activity tomorrow, even though we’ll have an off day, and we’ll see where he’s at at that point.”Staff writers Ryan Carter and Olga Grigoryants contributed to this story. Driving around the city, he walked into four hotels as his family waited in the car before finally finding temporary lodgings at around 4 a.m.James is a creature of routine, fastidious about his diet, training and perhaps most of all his sleep. He admitted the evacuation under the cover of darkness had been disruptive to all of those cycles that anchor his life – his children didn’t go to school Monday after not going to sleep until 6:30 a.m. – but now that his family is safely harbored, basketball has given him some refuge as well.James showed up Monday morning to the practice facility for his morning workout and the team’s Genius Talk, despite just about two hours of sleep himself.“It’s not hard once I know my family is safe,” he said. “My family is safe and a little discombobulated obviously because of the situation, but they’re safe and once they were safe, to be able to come back here is greatly appreciated.” Coach Frank Vogel canceled practice Monday, but said the decision was not directly related to the evacuation of James, one of the team’s biggest stars. Vogel said he did offer James the chance to take the day off, but he declined.Against Memphis on Tuesday night, James was expected to play, but Vogel acknowledged the team will likely use extra awareness and caution for his minutes.“We’ll always be attentive when there’s an adverse circumstance like this,” Vogel said, “just to keep an eye on it, and probably overcommunicate with him on how he’s feeling.”While his home is still standing, James said, it’s not yet in the clear, making it one of the estimated 7,100 homes still under threat of damage by the wildfire, which started early Monday morning.James said the experience had given him a special appreciation for the first responders fighting the Getty fire.“Those guys – men and women – are unbelievable, what they’re doing and their bravery throughout this time,” he said. “And anytime you’re dealing with such a situation like that, they’re the reason why things can be a lot less worse than they possibly could be. So, it’s an amazing job what they do and their commitment with what’s going on right now.”James’ appreciation was not limited to words: The Lakers forward – famous for his love of “Taco Tuesday” – paid for the Mariscos Jalisco taco truck to stop by the emergency responders’ base camp where they were treated to free lunch on Tuesday. If you like football but you haven’t been watching I’m A Celebrity, what on Earth are you doing?!Harry Redknapp has been in absolutely blinding form and is even the favourite to win the show after his brilliant jokes in episode one where he described how he thought he was a good driver until he accidentally ran over his wife (he tells it much better). Harry is becoming a favourite in the jungle Harry Redknapp is just the best isn’t he? #ImACeleb— Matt Ascroft (@theascroft) November 20, 2018 1 [email protected]’s life is a novel. You couldn’t make it up. #ImACeleb pic.twitter.com/vtDLNyAf5y— I’m A Celebrity… (@imacelebrity) November 20, 2018But last night’s instalment of the ITV programme showed a different side to Harry and it was refreshing to see.The former Bournemouth, West Ham and Tottenham boss is obviously a football man first and foremost. However, episode three proves there is a gentler side to the east London lad and we are seeing an unlikely friendship develop between him and flamboyant actor John Barrowman as well as hearing about the adorable story of how he met his wife, Sandra.Harry’s not a bad singer either! We know this because one of the first bits of the show saw Harry and John belt out the classic British tune I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside as the pair and their campmates said hello to a new day in the Australian jungle. Harry Redknapp is easily the best campmate this year🤣 “I thought quail was a fish”“Im not allowed to drive because I ran my wife over once”“I have no sense of smell”“ I killed the flowers with a jet wash”#imacelebrity— Amy Rose☃️🎄❄️ (@amyrosecooperxx) November 20, 2018 Harry and @JohnBarrowman – the bromance we never knew we needed. ⛱ #ImACeleb pic.twitter.com/FoGnSPydUX— I’m A Celebrity… (@imacelebrity) November 20, 2018Harry was not at the centre of things so much, as the standout part of the show was the Bushtucker trial which was done by Anne Hegerty from The Chase. However, Harry was still given a decent amount of air time and there was a lovely moment halfway through where he and John told each other how they met their respective partners.John explained how a series of telephone calls saw him ending up taking his now-partner on a first date alongside the singer Cher (as you do!)There were no A-List celebrities present when Harry met Sandra – whom he’s been with for 54 years – but this story certainly had more of a British charm about it. If I knew Harry Redknapp I would sit him in my front room with a decent pint on like a Sunday afternoon and just say “Go…”I’d sit for hours and listen to his stories. Love it! 🤣 #ImACeleb— Samantha Quek (@SamanthaQuek) November 19, 2018 Harry Redknapp to win 💯 #imaceleb #imacelebrity 💯 pic.twitter.com/wXa4LureRI— Davinia (@mynameisdavinia) November 20, 2018 Shout out to @cher and The Two Puddings ❤ #ImACeleb pic.twitter.com/lQErdI0VXW— I’m A Celebrity… (@imacelebrity) November 20, 2018Harry explained how he and a former West Ham goalkeeper Colin Mackleworth (who ended up becoming an undertaker) approached two girls at a dance (a similar thing to clubbing for the older generation) in Stratford, east London and one of them was Sandra. He said: “Me and my mate Macca, he was a goalkeeper for West Ham, saw these two lovely girls and I said to Macca ‘shall we have a dance with those two?’“Macca is a good looking geezer and I look back on it now and think Sandra must have seen us both coming over and thought ‘I hope I ain’t got him’ and she went for me. 54 years later we’re still going strong.“And Macca ended up as an undertaker so really Sandra had the better deal in the long-term.”This was arguably Harry’s best story yet and these fans couldn’t get enough of it. Episode two, Harry was in his element as he recounted a number of hilarious stories about the time he tried to water his wife’s plants with a jet-washer AND the occasions he didn’t recognise Prince Harry and Princess Beatrice when bumping into them.Get the I’m A Celeb gossip every day with Jamie East’s brand new behind-the-scenes podcastHe says he even thought for a moment the Duke of Sussex was a former player of his!If you need to need to familiarise yourself with these hilarious tales you can see the video below. Custom built on a mid-sized truck frame, the mobile clinic measures 10m by 2.5m and is divided into two parts: a maternal and child care section and a dental care section. (Image: Philips South Africa)On its sixth annual Cape Town to Cairo roadshow, Philips is helping to deliver primary health care to three townships in Johannesburg. In a partnership between electronics multinational Phillips, the Nozala Trust and the Rhiza Foundation, a mobile clinic will deliver basic primary health care to thousands of people who have little or no access to health care facilities. The populous townships of Diepsloot, Cosmo City and Orange Farm, in northern Johannesburg, will benefit from this collaboration.Through the mobile clinic, the partners aim to improve quality of life and provide access to health services, particularly access to maternal and child health and dental care. Another goal is the treatment of hundreds of patients every month. This roadshow marks the pilot launch of the mobile clinic; the ambition is to scale it up to five over the next five years in different communities, based on the outcomes of the initial pilot.Jose Fernandes, the general manager of Philips health care Southern Africa, said: “In many African countries including South Africa, there is a chronic shortage of suitable equipment or necessary skills to facilitate safe delivery and appropriate new-born care, as well as dental care. [Bringing] health care directly to those most in need shortens the waiting period and improves access, which ultimately saves lives.“Innovation as a means to improve people’s lives is at the heart of who we are at Philips and we increasingly seek engagement and co-creation opportunities with organisations like the Rhiza Foundation that can result in making a difference in the lives of South Africa citizens.”THE CLINICCustom built on a mid-sized truck frame, the mobile clinic measures 10m by 2.5m and is divided into two parts: a maternal and child care section and a dental care section. It is staffed by an-all women team of a registered nurse, a dental therapist, a dental assistant and a driver-assistant. The team meets another of the project’s goals, namely to empower and uplift women. The mobility of the clinic allows it to expand geographic coverage when it comes to patient care.In addition, there is an educational aspect. Informative videos are screened on Philips plasma screens for patients and visitors.MATERNAL SCREENINGSOn its annual Cape Town to Cairo roadshows, Philips champions UN Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5, which are related to reducing child mortality and improving maternal health. The mobile clinic project, conceptualised by the Rhiza Foundation, offers a good synergy to address the issue of maternal and infant mortality.According to the Philips Fabric of Africa trends report, women in Africa are at significant risk of premature death, with particularly high mortality rates recorded in pregnancy. Women in semi-urban and rural areas across Africa often die as a result of preventable complications during child birth as they have no access to ultrasound screenings to detect critical conditions. Many of these deaths can be diagnosed with basic imaging technology.Alef Meulenberg, the chairman and founder of the foundation, said: “Rhiza stands for community development at large, through education, skills and enterprise development as well as primary health care that makes a sustainable difference in township communities in Johannesburg and Cape Town. Our goal is to make people self-sustaining, through our holistic approach regarding community and socio-economic development.”The foundation was extremely proud of the mobile clinic. “We are confident that it will provide and improve primary health care in township communities that currently lack regular access to these services.”INNOVATIVE EQUIPMENTPhillips has also installed its innovative VISIQ ultrasound, which is the size of a tablet, in the clinic. VISIQ is the first ultra-mobile ultrasound system. It is approximately 10 times smaller than a traditional ultrasound machine, with reduced energy consumption. It is ideally tailored for the mobile clinic. It will be used for screening, triage and foetal well-being scans, all of which will help to address the critical issue of maternal and infant care.Other diagnostic and maternal imaging technology includes: the Philips Avalon Foetal Monitor to detect foetal heart beat and uterus contractions, and a Goldway Colposcope to capture live images of the cervix. The next stop on the Cape Town to Cairo roadshow will be Nairobi, Kenya, from 26 to 29 May. Follow the journey via Twitter @philipsSafrica or visit www.philips.com/C2CAfrica.Royal Philips is a diversified health and well-being company with a focus on cardiac care, acute care and home health care, energy efficient lighting solutions and new lighting applications, as well as male shaving and grooming, and oral health care.Issues that have been tackled over the last five years of the roadshow have included mother and child care, the rise of non-communicable diseases, energy efficient light emitting diode (LED) and solar lighting solutions, as well as clinical education and training. The Dutch company also promotes LED lighting in Africa on the roadshows, enabling efficient energy management, reducing costs, improving city life, and extending the day for rural areas with solar lighting. It has introduced several breakthrough energy-efficient LED lighting innovations.

I want to be there when I get more mature and experienced in the game.MJ: What do you think of people calling you “the next Bolt”?AS: It’s a great honor to be mentioned alongside a great like him. Deccan Chronicle Holdings Limited (DCHL) has put its Indian Premier League (IPL) team up for sale. The IPL franchisee has issued a tender notice inviting bids from buyers for the Deccan Chargers, which is currently in a financial mess.If Deccan Chargers does not close a deal with a buyer by Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would float a tender to find a replacement for the crisis-hit franchise. The cricket board’s working committee had on Monday decided to allow DCHL to go ahead and issue tender. The new buyer might have to pay the salary of the Deccan Chargers’ players for the fifth edition of the IPL.According to the tender notice, “under this invitation to tender issued by DCHL, the winning bidder will acquire from the DCHL on an “as is where is” basis the right to own and operate the IPL team currently known as Deccan Chargers, which is and will continue to be based in Hyderabad and which competes in the Indian Premier League and which has the opportunity (if applicable and subject to qualification) to compete in each and any CLT20 which is staged from 2013 onwards”.The term “as is where is” means that the new buyer will have to use the name Deccan Chargers and will have to clear the liabilities of the current owner. The invitation to tender and the bid document can be acquired from the BCCI office in Mumbai from September 7 upon a payment of Rs 5 lakh by demand draft or pay order favouring DCHL.According to the IPL constitution, 5 per cent of the bidding amount will be acquired by the BCCI.The last day for submitting the bid will be 12 noon on September 13 and the winning bid will be announced on the same day.The new potential buyer may have to pay the salary of the Deccan Chargers’ players for the fifth edition of the IPL.The move will also help consortium of banks, which had loaned out significant amount to DCHL, to recover their money since the name of the team will remain Deccan Chargers.Earlier in June, DCHL had appointed investment banking institution, Religare to find a potential buyer but they were unable to find one, who would readily buy the team with its financial liabilities.advertisement– With PTI inputs

OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the safety of children is a priority, but he won’t say whether his government will move ahead with a public registry for high-risk sex offenders. In the House of Commons, Conservative MPs demanded Wednesday to know whether the Liberals would create the online tool, made possible by legislation the previous government ushered through Parliament. The Canadian Press recently reported that Public Safety officials had urged the Liberals to put the brakes on a public registry. An internal March 2016 memo says “a number of concerns have been raised” — from resource pressures to fears of vigilante-style attacks on offenders — that would support dropping the idea of a public database.“If the Liberals have a problem with the public being informed about dangerous criminals living in their neighbourhood, then Canadian parents have a right to know,” Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer said during question period Wednesday.Trudeau said police are already advised when high-risk sex offenders are released and that officers can inform the public of any concerns. The Conservatives wouldn’t let the issue go.MP Rob Nicholson, a former justice minister, said Canadians should a public registry would give people information to help keep their children safe. “Will the prime minister do the right thing, yes or no? Canadians deserve to know.”Trudeau accused the Opposition of playing “the worst kind of crass political games” on a serious issue. The Conservatives tabled legislation for the public registry, but “did not put any money toward it,” which was typical of the previous government, Trudeau said.“It was all talking a big game, not actually delivering. We are focused on concretely keeping our communities safe and giving police the tools necessary to keep our communities safe.”The Canadian Press used the Access to Information Act to recently obtain the March 2016 memo and other internal notes on legislative measures to crack down on child predators. The proposed database would provide the public with a national inventory of high-risk child sex offenders in their communities and allow them to take appropriate precautions, the notes say. Currently such information is available only to authorities. The notes indicate that officials recommended proceeding with elements of the legislation that impose new reporting requirements on registered sex offenders and allow for better information sharing between federal agencies. But officials suggested Public Safety Canada and RCMP would undertake a review and consult interested parties “for a fully informed assessment of the proposed new database” and develop options for the government.A Public Safety official said last week that “work on this initiative is ongoing.”— Follow @JimBronskill on Twitter
