It has been disappointing so far, but Uganda’s search for glory at the Games of the XXXI Olympiad continues Monday with the steeplechase runners seeking a place in the final.Benjamin Kiplagat and Jacob Araptany will run in heat 1 and 3 in a race that is dominated by the Kenyans. Even before the final, it looks already like the battle will be for any other medal – if any at all – other than gold. For the last 36 years, the Kenyans have won gold in the 3000m steeplechase, and in 1992 and 2004, made it a 1-2-3.Led by defending champion Ezekiel Kemboi, their stars include former junior champion Conseslus Kipruto who has the year’s season’s best of 8:00.12.Uganda’s best steeplechase runner Kiplagat will have to clock his best ever time of 8:03.81 to challenge them, but he first must qualify for the final. His best performance was five years ago in 2010, and with a season best of 8:20.35, the 27-year-old will hope for a performance that gets him one of the best finishers places. The top 3 in each heat, and six best finishers in the 3 heats makes the final. 102092Jeroen D’HOEDTBEL8:31.548:30.03 62859Krystian ZALEWSKIPOL8:19.918:16.20 42312Ole HESSELBJERGDEN8:30.518:30.51 112425Yoann KOWALFRA8:17.838:12.53 22010Ali MESSAOUDIALG8:27.998:27.99 Tuesday August 16 Women’s 5000m round 1 – 3.30pmJuliet Chekwel and Stella ChesangMen’s 1500m round 1 – 4-30pmRonald MusagalaWed August 17 Men’s 5000m round 1 – 4.05pmJacob Kiplimo, Phillip Kipyego and Joshua Kiprui CheptegeiWomen’s 800m round 1 – 4.55pmHalimah Nakaayi and Winnie NanyondoMen’s Steeplechase finalThursday August 18 Men’s 1500m semifinalWomen 800m semifinalFriday August 19 Women’s 5000m finalSaturday August 20 Men’s 1500m finalWomen’s 800m finalMen’s 5000m final 3.30pmJacob Kiplimo, Phillip Kipyego and Joshua Kiprui CheptegeiSunday August 21 Men’s Marathon final 3.30pmSolomon Mutai, Jackson Kiprop and Stephen KiprotichSteeplechase heats line up 32167Nelson Kipkosgei CHERUTICHBRN8:26.238:22.24 82366Abdelaziz MERZOUGUIESP8:26.158:18.03 72340Yemane HAILESELASSIEERI8:22.528:22.52 13014Jacob ARAPTANYUGA8:29.608:14.48 132350Fernando CARROESP8:33.698:21.78 82467Rob MULLETTGBR8:22.428:22.42 12183Mitko TSENOVBUL8:21.348:20.87 52658Kazuya SHIOJIRIJPN8:31.898:31.89 92364Sebastián MARTOSESP8:19.338:18.31 12743Hamid EZZINEMAR8:19.318:09.72 152740Soufiane ELBAKKALIMAR8:14.418:14.41 ORDER / LANEBIBATHLETECOUNTRYSB 2016PB 143016Benjamin KIPLAGATUGA8:20.358:03.81 32130Altobeli DA SILVABRA8:28.568:28.56 52391Chala BEYOETH8:17.848:17.84 32211Chris WINTERCAN8:27.188:26.55 42379Kaur KIVISTIKEST8:33.758:32.23 142946Abdalla TARGANSUD8:31.208:31.20 22594Abdoullah BAMOUSSAITA8:32.548:32.54 72678Ezekiel KEMBOIKEN8:14.197:55.76 102683Brimin Kiprop KIPRUTOKEN8:19.337:53.64 92430Mahiedine MEKHISSIFRA8:20.108:00.09 52748Hicham SIGUENIMAR8:20.538:16.54 22205Taylor MILNECAN8:26.978:19.90 123120José PEÑAVEN8:26.368:20.87 133005Aras KAYATUR8:29.918:29.91 83055Donald CABRALUSA8:20.728:13.37 152013Bilal TABTIALG8:20.268:20.26 102399Tafese SEBOKAETH8:17.758:17.75 72315Mohamed ISMAIL IBRAHIMDJI8:23.778:23.77 ORDER / LANEBIBATHLETECOUNTRYSB 2016PB 62389Hailemariyam AMAREETH8:21.108:21.10 62172John Kibet KOECHBRN8:09.628:09.62 123052Hillary BORUSA8:24.108:24.10 112599Yuri FLORIANIITA8:30.038:22.62 Cheptegei best Ugandan so farUganda’s best performance so far has come from 19-year-old Joshua Cheptegei who finished 10th in the 10,000m final that won was Britain’s Mo Farah. Facebook36Tweet0Pin0Submitted by Adopt-A-PetMeet Milo! He is a 5 year-old, Boxer/Saint Bernard mix, who is a handsome, loving, and smart guy in search of an outdoorsy family. Milo loves rolling in the grass, playing with his jolly ball, and companionship. Milo is healing very well from his late February ACL/Knee Surgery, and although loves a good romp in the yard, he must be leash limited at this time. He is great on walks, keeps a tidy house, likes to BBQ, enjoys his crate with an open door, and loves adult people.Milo wants to be King Dog of your castle! He has the most expressive eyes, accented with manly outlines of black hair, and knows quite a few basic commands, including “sit,” “stay,” “wait”, “release”, “down”, “stack”, and “look at me”. Milo also looks quite stylish in his sock monkey sweater! A fenced yard is required to keep him safe, as he really likes being in the yard, and a grain-free diet to keep him healthy. Come play with me!Adopt-A-Pet has many great dogs and always need volunteers.
