“We need to keep improving our mechanics and physical sharpness,” said head coach Charlie DiSilvestro. “We have had a really good week of practice and done well at home. Now it’s time to go out on race day, execute the race plan in competition. We’re excited to have three chances to race on the same course and use that to our advantage.” Saturday will feature two separate racing sessions, one in the morning and another in the afternoon, and then close with a morning session Sunday. Drake will have all three of its conference boats, the varsity 8, 2nd varsity and varsity 4 as well as a 2nd varsity 4, participate both days in Michigan. SPRING LAKE, Mich. – The Drake University rowing team travels to the 2018 Lubbers Cup this Saturday and Sunday. The annual regatta is hosted by Grand Valley State’s club team and this year the two-day event will be held April 14-15 on a 2,000-meter course on Spring Lake. All races will be live streamed and available to view on the main regatta website. Following its trip to Michigan, Drake travels to Springfield, Ill., for the Illinois Sprints, April 21.
