Dr. Waheed is in Sri Lanka with a Maldivian delegation on a two day official visit, the Maldivian President’s office said. Speaking to the media at the hospital, the President applauded the service quality at the hospital.During the President’s visit, the CEO of Lanka Hospital gave a presentation on the services available there. Discussions with officials from the hospital were held on providing internship opportunities to Maldivian medical students. At the meeting, the officials agreed to look in to ways to solve the most urgent issues being faced by Maldivian patients.The officials also spoke on the possibility of specialist visits to Maldives to work at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital. (Colombo Gazette) Sri Lanka and the Maldives have discussed the possibility of boosting ties between both countries.The discussion took place between visiting Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Waheed and President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the President’s house today. Following the meeting with President Rajapaksa, President Waheed visited Maldivian patients at the Lanka Hospital.
A teenage boy has died at Reading Festival.The 17-year-old’s death is being treated as unexplained, Thames Valley Police said.He was pronounced dead after emergency services were called to a tent in the campsite at the popular music festival shortly before 2am on Monday.The teenager has not been formally identified but his next of kin have been informed.Superintendent Rory Freeman, the festival’s police commander, reassured others attending the event that there is “no cause for concern”.He added: “We will continue to provide support to the boy’s family at this difficult time.” Want the best of The Telegraph direct to your email and WhatsApp?
